St Mary Magdalene’s Lutheran Church in Koeru

Visited March 27, 2011

Koeru is literally in the middle of nowhere, but it did have a nice little church, St. Mary Magdalene's Lutheran Church.

We went there because our Estonian teacher's aunt lives there, and the point of our language immersion was to get away from areas where people speak English. Koeru qualifies (except for the aunt, who actually teaches English!).

This church is one of the oldest medieval churches in Järvamaa with a Baroque spire, and was apparently built in the 13th century.

The rose window looks a bit like a nuclear hazard sign to me!
